Partnership with University of Adelaide

Discovery and development of novel improved forms of REE-selective proteins such as lanmodulin, for Protein-IEX under industrial scale mining conditions, is critical for Theia Metals technology platform and commercial plans. Theia's proteins must embody multiple quality attributes essential for scale up manufacture and commercial use in mining, quite different to proteins used today in other large scale industrial separations sectors.

Theia Metals has established an exclusive licensing partnership with the Laboratory of Prof. Chun-Xia Zhao at the School of Chemical Engineering, University of Adelaide, South Australia. This partnership in commercial development will provide Theia Metals access to novel protein building blocks for next-generation mining process commercialisation, plus world-leading expertise in the multiple lab scale assays to define quality attributes predictive of success at scale. Prof. Zhao's laboratory will lead testing of novel lanmodulin structures incorporated into industrial formats for Theia Metals to take forward for sequential development from lab bench to pilot in readiness for commercial scale. Adelaide University and Theia will develop an integrated and broad corporate intellectual property basis to underpin investment, commercial products and partnerships.
